Victor Smialek and Franz Woess Racing went back to Italy for the Mugello Circuit in Tuscany.
In the first race, Victor placed 2nd after a series of unfortunate events. He got off to a good start, positioning himself in fourth for most of the race until the leader and second clashed and were taken out. He continued to chase first before an unlucky safety car, which put a lapped car between him and the leader, ultimately left him to defend his position from the third driver after the final lap restart, ruling out any chance of taking the victory. The second race started out well but lacked pace and Victor was ultimately unable to challenge the leader. In an effort to bring it home, Victor maintained his position and earned another 2nd place finish.
“Hot weekend. [We] had a great chance to win in race 1 but in this series cars are unallowed to unlap themselves or get out of the way when there is a safety car. I was about to overtake a lapped car but then the SC [safety car] came out…[and] I would restart behind the lapped car which meant I couldn't overtake before the line. So I couldn't attack first and had to defend from the car behind to protect 2nd. Race 2 was a bit more uneventful [with] two safety cars and [I] just brought the car home”
Next up, Victor and Franz Woess Racing are off to the BRNO Circuit in the Czech Republic.
