Red Bull Ring Race Recap

May 19, 2024

Victor Smialek and Franz Woess Racing had their second start of the season at the always adventurous Red Bull Ring in Austria.

The first race found Victor with a 4th-place overall, 2nd-in-class, finish - matching his best finish in the previous round at Vallelunga. It was a great race despite losing a place at the start and the VSC (virtual safety car) widening the gap. Similarly, the second race saw Victor fall back one spot at the start of the race before battling back to overtake the position again and a crash out vaulted him to a 3rd place finish - good for 2nd-in-class.

“[I] made a lot of progress compared to Vallelunga. [I] felt a lot better in the car, [and] had the pace in qualifying to be close to pole but ran into traffic and had to settle for 3rd. Race 1 had a bad start, and just brought it home to the end. Race 2 was a bit more eventful - had a bad start and lost a position but got it back a few laps later. FCY [full course yellow] closed the field up but I held my ground and finished 3rd.”.

Next, Victor and Franz Woess Racing head back to Italy for the Imola Circuit.
